Have you got what it takes?

Do you think you have got the qualities it takes to be the perfect employee, the person who is relied on to perform well and who is destined for a star studded career? When your boss is reflecting on the team, are you the person who will spring first to mind as the one who is indispensable? Do this simple test and start thinking about what you have got that an employer is looking for. By exploring just where you think you sit on this scale of good to great, you will identify attributes that you will want to focus on. You will then find that each of the next chapters takes each attribute in turn and develops the ways in which you can increase your skills and control the course of your career and success. Use this as a starting point for measuring where you are now and then growing your ability to change how you do things and improve your results.

The Attributes and Qualities of the Perfect Employee – The questionnaire

Instructions

Look at the list of words below and decide how appealing you find them. Then grade them on the rating of A, B, C or D to reflect the degree to which you agree with them. Put the letter in the relevant box and move to the next question.

For example, if the word you have to look at is “Party”, use your immediate reaction, that is to say the feeling, the behaviour, the reaction the instinct that it arouses, to decide where you stand.

Don’t think too hard about it but give your instant reaction. Play along, do it light heartedly and quickly and see how you get on. You can either do it in this book now or you can go to www.annewatson.co.uk and do it online to get an instant and tailor made report.

A= Spot on! It’s what I am and what I do

B = Getting warm. It’s a lot like me, a lot of the time

C= Not quite me but no violent reaction against it. I am not holding my hands up in horror

D= No way! This just isn’t me
